Who's responsible for downing the Malaysian plane?
Until last year, Mike Morell was the deputy director of the CIA. The agency's former No. 2 official is now a CBS News contributor.
Morell gives CBS News his analysis on the situation in eastern Ukraine, where a Malaysia Airlines passenger plane carrying nearly 300 people was shot down Thursday, killing everyone on board.
U.S. intelligence officials believe a missile brought down the airliner. Both the Ukrainian military and pro-Russian rebels have denied involvement.
Morell says it seems very unlikely that the Ukrainian military would have fired at an aircraft, since the rebels don't have any type of air force.
If the Russian-backed rebels are responsible, he says, that would raise a slew of new questions that could put a "tremendous amount of pressure" on Russian President Vladimir Putin.
