Fla. teen arrested in fatal drive-by shooting of 16-year-old
MIAMI -- Miami-Dade police arrested a 15-year-old Monday in connection with a deadly drive-by shooting that occurred on Sunday, reports CBS Miami.
Dennis Shelby Jr. has reportedly been charged with first degree murder in the death of 16-year-old Rahkeem Brown. Brown and his friend, 16-year-old Tyvontae Robinson, were shot at near his home in Homestead, according to the station.
Brown later died, but Robinson was still fighting for his life as of Monday night, according to CBS Miami.
According to the station, some say the Homestead shooting was retaliation for yet another deadly shooting that happened Saturday in nearby Florida City. Noricia Talabert, a senior at South Dade Senior High, was killed and two others were hurt.
Witnesses told CBS Miami that Talabert was in a car with her friends when someone shot at them. She died on the scene, but her friends, Deanna Clayton and Daquanty Allen, were in the car when they were shot at.
"I remember gunshots. I was on my phone and looking down. I heard gunshots and the car pulled off. At first I ran out of the car. I knew she was gone and I didn't believe it," said Clayton. "It's not right what they did, she wanted to go to college. She was a good person. She never got in any trouble."
Investigators say that gang violence is a possibility.
Police are urging anyone with information to anonymously call the Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers hotline at (305) 471-TIPS.
