Florida "surgeon" arrested for mutilating patient

TAMARAC, Fla. - Multiple media outlets report that a South Florida man was arrested Friday on a charge of unlicensed practice of health care, causing serious injury. The case involves a patient who alleges his penis was left deformed by 60-year-old Mark D. Schreiber of Tamarac.

Hialeah police say the unidentified patient paid Schreiber in February to remove material that had been injected into him to make his penis larger. He says he is unable to function sexually.

Authorities say the man who performed the initial procedures, 48-year-old Nery C. Gonzalez, is also wanted on the same charge of unlicensed practice of health care.

Schreiber was given a two-year sentence in 2008 in a prior case of unlicensed practicing.
