First look: Michael C. Hall in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch"

Michael C. Hall has officially traded Dexter Morgan's Henley tees and kill kit for Hedwig's glitter, glitter and more glitter.

The "Dexter" star will be joining Broadway's "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" later this month, and the first photos have now been released of him in the title role.

The photos show Hall wearing a face full of makeup, including glittery eye shadow and a dramatic dark red lip. Another shows him with matching red-painted nails.

Hall is stepping into the killer heels now inhabited by Andrew Rannells ("Girls," "The Book of Mormon") and previously Neil Patrick Harris, who won a Tony Award for playing the East German transgender glam rocker.

His run as Hedwig begins Oct. 16 and continues through Jan. 4. Rannells ends his run Oct. 12.
