First look: Christopher Nolan's WWII epic "Dunkirk"

Christopher Nolan has another epic film on the way -- this one set during World War II -- and now audiences are getting their first glimpse of the action. Just not of Harry Styles, though.

"Dunkirk" chronicles the harrowing WWII mission Operation Dynamo, a gambit to rescue Allied soldiers stranded in northern France, and from the looks of the first teaser, it's going to be quite a battle.

While this might feel like the perfect Oscar season film, Nolan's latest is apparently looking to be a summer blockbuster, as it doesn't come out until next July.

There's no clear shot of former One Direction star Harry Styles -- who makes his feature film debut in "Dunkirk" -- but maybe he's one of those terrified infantrymen at the end. The film also stars Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance and Cillian Murphy.

While most movie fans wouldn't think a lack of footage of Styles in the first teaser might not be that big of a deal, some One Direction fans were not impressed.

"Dunkirk" will be released July 21, 2017.
