Fireworks thrown at dogs in live video, cops say

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Police say detectives monitoring social media over the holiday weekend watched a live video of two men throwing fireworks at dogs chained in a backyard in South Carolina.

Investigators say the men threw dozens of firecrackers at the dogs Friday in Rock Hill, near the state's border with North Carolina. One dog tried to hide in a shelter, and the men threw fireworks into it.

Police went to the home Tuesday and found fireworks and other evidence. Animal control took the dogs, noting they appeared injured and needed to see a veterinarian. Police spokesman Mark Bollinger says officers had to wait to get search warrants over the July 4 holiday weekend.

Officers arrested 25-year-old Tevin Anderson and charged him with cruelty to animals. Police are still looking for 21-year-old Deangelo Roseboro on similar charges. It wasn't known whether Anderson has an attorney to contact for comment.
