Female stabbing suspect shot dead by Anaheim police
ANAHEIM -- Police say there was a fatal officer-involved shooting near where a woman was stabbed at a laundromat in Anaheim, Calif. Sunday evening, reports CBS Los Angeles.
When called to the laundromat at 5:30 p.m. in response to a stabbing, police say the suspect fled to her apartment in an adjoining building. The suspect refused to leave the premises, and when she did, she was carrying two knives, police told the station.
The suspect, when ordered to drop the knives, reportedly did not comply -- prompting the officers to shoot, according to CBS Los Angeles. The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival, police said.
Police would not release the suspect's name or identity -- describing her only as a woman in her 40s, according to the station. Officials did say that the laundromat stabbing appeared to be an unprovoked attack.
CBS Los Angeles spoke to a neighbor who said the deceased had several issues in the past and had threatened him with a knife.
"She thought I was working with the FBI," said neighbor Gabriel Magdaleno. "And so the next day, I come out and she had broken my windows. She came at me one time with a knife."
Police say the investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Lt. Bob Dunn of the Anaheim Police Department said several officers were wearing body cameras, according to the station.
The stabbing victim reportedly had non-life threatening injuries.
