According to the Marion County Prosecutor's Office, James Fairbanks faces charges of murder and neglect of a dependent resulting in death following the disappearance of his infant daughter Janna, who was reported missing on May 29, 2015, the station reports.

According to court documents, the girl's mother left her with Fairbanks on May 28. She returned home that night, and Fairbanks informed her the baby was dead. Fairbanks reportedly told investigators he put a pillow over her to muffle her cries that day.

According to the station, Fairbanks led police to a dumpster at the apartment complex, but they did not find her body. They also searched several other sites in vain. During one such search, however, detectives recovered a blanket they believed belonged to the baby.

Police reportedly arrested Fairbanks Thursday.
