Family of Marine killed in September hit-and-run seeking answers

THURMONT, Md. -- The family of a Marine who was killed in a hit-and-run crash Sept. 29 is renewing its call for information about the incident, reports CBS DC.

Cpl. William Kyle Ferrell was killed Sept. 29 after being struck by a truck driver on U.S. 15 near Thurmont, Md. Maryland State Police say Ferrell had been helping a disabled motorist on the shoulder of the road during a rainstorm.

The driver remains at large.

Saturday, Kyle Ferrell's father, Dan Ferrell, and his girlfriend, Tiffani Brady, traveled from North Carolina to attend a memorial gathering at the Thurmont restaurant where Kyle Ferrell ate his last meal.

At the fundraiser, Ferrell said the family is still looking for closure after police in October released photographs of the accident scene, hoping to generate leads.

Police previously said Ferrell was assigned to Camp David, best known as a presidential retreat, and known formally as the Naval Support Facility in Thurmont.

Crime Stoppers announced a $2,000 reward for information leading to a suspect's arrest and indictment, but police say they still have no suspects in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-866-7-LOCKUP.
