Eric Trump on Donald Trump: My father has done an "amazing service"

Eric Trump: We've already won

Donald Trump's son, Eric Trump, defended his father in an interview Monday saying he has done "an amazing service" for both the United State and the Republican Party.

"People are finally engaged in politics. My father's done an amazing service for this country, he's done an amazing service for the party. What the party doesn't like is they can't control him because he's not taking their money," Trump said in an interview with CBSN.

Donald Trump: GOP “not treating me right”

His father, Donald Trump has repeatedly accused the Republican Party of unfair treatment and threatened to mount a third-party run or to withdraw support from the GOP nominee if he's not satisfied.

Eric Trump is one of his father's most vocal defenders, calling him his best friend, and an "amazing guy" who has seen "everything he's ever touched" turned "to gold."

"It's worse being the kids," he said of his father's presidential bid, "because you want to defend but you're not always on the front line to be able to defend. And listen, we have very thick skin."

He argued that his father's rivals are attacking him because "they have a very small road ahead of them."

"Tomorrow it looks based on the polls like we're going to do incredibly well" he said of Super Tuesday. "These guys are grasping at straws at this point."

He defended his father against some attacks, including those from rivals who slammed the elder Trump for not being quick enough to denounce his endorsement from Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.

During a CNN interview Sunday, "State of the Union" host Jake Tapper asked the billionaire: "Will you unequivocally condemn David Duke and say that you don't want his vote or that of other white supremacists in this election?"

Donald Trump told CNN: "I don't know anything about David Duke, okay? I don't know anything about what you're even talking about with white supremacy or white supremacists."

On Monday, Donald Trump blamed a "lousy" earpiece and said he had already disavowed Duke.

On CBSN, Eric Trump called the repeated criticism "actually the worst part of politics."

"He's condemned him 400 times and other candidates will come out, you know, 'he's endorsed by the KKK.' Give me a break," he said.

And responding to questions about some of Trump's statements about women and Hispanics, Eric Trump pointed to his success in last week's Nevada caucus.

"We won the women's vote leaps and bounds, we also won the Hispanic vote leaps and bounds. These are soundbites that these people come up with that have zero basis," he said.

As for questions about the lack of specifics he has put forward, Eric Trump said people can trust his dad.

"The man is a man of absolute action. Believe me, he will build that wall. He will build it so fast people's heads will spin and by the way he will make Mexico pay for it," he said.

He said that his father is an "incredible guy" and he's proud of everything he's done.

"I love him to death. I'm not running around being by his side in every single stop because I have any aspirations to go into politics. I'm doing it because I love the man. From a fatherly perspective he's been amazing, from a career perspective, from a mentorship perspective, he's amazing," he said.
