Emmys 2014: The top five social moments
There's no question that it was a night of "Breaking Bad" at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards this year.
The series, which wrapped last fall on AMC, took home multiple awards Monday night in Los Angeles, including best drama and best supporting actress in a drama series for Anna Gunn. Needless to say, there's renewed buzz around the show about teacher-turned-meth-king Walter White.
Meanwhile, "The Big Bang Theory" continues to go strong with another big win for actor Jim Parsons.
Facebook has tallied up the night's buzziest moments measured by spikes in Emmy-related conversations.
Here's the Top 5:
1. "Breaking Bad" wins outstanding drama series
"Breaking Bad" ended its five-season run on top, scoring the outstanding drama series honor -- topping "Downton Abbey," "Game of Thrones," "House of Cards," "Mad Men" and "True Detective" -- all critically-acclaimed shows with major followings.
"This is a wonderful time to be working in television. I think we all know that," the show's creative Vince Gilligan said during his acceptance speech, given alongside the show's writers and talent.
2. Bryan Cranston wins outstanding lead actor in a drama series
Cranston scored his fourth lead actor in a drama series award for his role on "Breaking Bad," beating Matthew McConaughey ("True Detective"), Woody Harrelson ("True Detective"), Jon Hamm ("Mad Men"), Jeff Daniels ("The Newsroom") and Kevin Spacey ("House of Cards").
"Even I thought about voting for Matthew," Cranston joked, later dedicating his Emmy to "all the Sneaky Petes of the world...Take a chance, take a risk. It's really worth it."
3. Billy Crystal's tribute to Robin Williams
Billy Crystal remembered his good friend Robin Williams with a moving tribute, calling the late actor "the brightest star in a comedy galaxy."
"It is very hard to talk about him in the past because he was so present in our lives," Crystal said about Williams, who was found dead on Aug. 11 in an apparent suicide at his California home at age 63.
"He made us laugh. Hard...He made us laugh big time...The brilliance was astounding...He could be funny anywhere," Crystal said.
He spoke about their times together at family functions, baseball games and more. "I used to think if I could put a saddle on him and stay on him for eight seconds, I was gonna do OK," said Crystal of his friend's stand-up style.
Crystal closed his dedication by saying that Williams' spirit will forever shine: "And you'll think to yourself: Robin Williams, what a concept."
4. Aaron Paul wins outstanding supporting actor in a drama series
Aaron Paul saw a third Emmy win for his portrayal of Jesse Pinkman on "Breaking Bad."
"I've learned so much, on screen and off," he said to Cranston, who watched from the crowd.
Paul also took time out during his acceptance speech to draw attention to his wife, Lauren Paul, the co-founder of the Kind Campaign. "To my wife, my god, thank you for marrying me," Paul said. "Thank you for dedicating your life to spread kindness across the world. We all appreciate it. If you guys don't know what she does, look up Kind Campaign. Do yourself and your children a favor. Kind Campaign."
5. Jim Parsons wins outstanding lead actor in a comedy series
Nothing it seems can slow down CBS' hit comedy series "The Big Bang Theory." The show's star Jim Parsons took home his fourth straight Emmy Award for best comedy actor on Monday, topping Louis C.K., Don Cheadle, Ricky Gervais, Matt LeBlanc and William H. Macy.
The actor thanked his fellow nominees, saying, "To say that I watch your work and I feel inspired is a bit of an understatement. I watch you work and see you people doing things I couldn't do...That I wouldn't do...That are so divergent and all over the place. All of us doing different things that I do pray to do one day."
