Elizabeth Warren heads to Clinton campaign HQ amid running mate rumors

Trump escalates feud with Clinton and Senator Warren

Senator Elizabeth Warren made an appearance at Hillary Clinton's Brooklyn Campaign Headquarters on Friday, giving a rallying speech to staffers, according to a Democratic source.

Staffers also posted selfies with the beaming Massachusetts senator on social media accounts. Clinton was in Chappaqua Friday, according to her campaign.

"Don't screw this up," Warren joked to the crowd that had assembled to greet and meet the prospective vice presidential candidate. Warren and Clinton met last Friday at Clinton's home in Washington.

Whether or not she is being vetted for the vice presidential spot, it's evident Warren has mastered the rhetorical part of the job. She repeated her mantra on the presumptive GOP nominee that "Donald Trump is a money grubber who doesn't care about anyone or anything other than himself."

And Warren painted Clinton as his polar opposite, referring to her as "one tough cookie who is gonna be out here fighting on behalf of working families...a tough, tough woman who in this crazy, scary world out there will be a steady hand who will lead."

In a poll conducted this week by Bloomberg, more than a third of voters supporting Clinton said that the Democratic nominee should choose Warren as her running mate. Support for New Jersey Senator Cory Booker and Julian Castro, two other names tested in the poll, lagged behind Warren at 17 percent and 12 percent respectively.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid has said he believes Warren would be a good choice to unite the party and has already looked into Massachusetts Senate Vacancy laws to ensure that if Warren left Congress for the White House, her position would not be filled by a Republican.

Warren is scheduled to appear Saturday in New Hampshire. She will be featured as the special guest at the New Hampshire Democratic Party state convention.

According to a source familiar with the visit, Warren talked to Clinton staff about the implications of the election for the Supreme Court, protecting Dodd-Frank, and the Affordable Care Act. She thanked Clinton's staff for their hard work and she talked about Clinton having the "steady hand" to keep America safe.

The source noted that Clinton supporters and surrogates often visit HQ to meet staffers. Other recent visitors include Sen. Chuck Schumer, Wendy Davis, former Rep. Gabby Giffords, Sec. Julian Castro and Jon Bon Jovi.
