Jeb Bush: Regarding brother George: "He doesn't need to rescue me"

"He doesn't need to rescue me," Bush said of his brother. "I am on the path. I am totally confident where we are. I will continue to ask his advice and counsel. But I got to go win this. This is my job." -- interviewed by CBS News' Major Garrett, on "CBS Evening News"

Hillary Clinton, on sending her book "Hard Choices" to her GOP opponents (except Jim Gilmore):

"I haven't gotten any thank-you notes yet." -- at a community forum at Cornell College, Mt. Vernon, IA

Rand Paul received his copy of "Hard Choices."

He is selling it on eBay and added his own inscription. At 8:46pm ET, it had reached $670 in bidding. His inscription reads, "Hillary, your refusal to provide security for our mission in Benghazi should forever preclude you from higher office! Rand Paul."

The auction item also includes a signed copy of Rand Paul's book, titled "Taking a Stand: Moving Beyond Partisan Politics to Unite America."

On gun safety:

Jeb Bush: Growing despair is the "the bigger problem"

"Name a case where gun rights being restricted out of Washington would have changed the course of any of those cases," Bush responded. "The bigger problem right now is we have people that are - have growing despair, are isolated from society, that are disconnected from the rest of us, and spiral out of control and then commit these atrocious acts of violence and in many cases commit suicide."-- interviewed by CBS News' Major Garrett, on "CBS Evening News"

John Kasich: "what I've done in Ohio"

"I'll tell you what I've done in Ohio: I have greatly strengthened the treatment for mentally ill. I created mentoring programs for children in school and getting parents involved in the same way - the same why we're fighting drugs. See i think you're missing what I'm saying...we can talk all day about drugs. But don't you see - these folks who have been the mass shooters, in the theater, out in Denver, what's happened here - this guy, his mother was all alone, didn't know where to go. There were no emergency beds. We've now created emergency beds in Ohio." -- interviewed on ABC's "The View"

Ben Carson: on actions taken by Chris Mintz, who was shot seven times as he ran at the Oregon shooter

"That's exactly what should be done, and if everybody does that, the likelihood of him being able to kill as many people diminishes quite significantly." -- interviewed on "CBS This Morning"
