Eight arrested in Atlantic City, New Jersey casino heist

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - Eight people, including a recently fired security guard, are under arrest in connection with the daring armed robbery of an Atlantic City casino, police announced Thursday.

The July 21 heist of Caesars Atlantic City touched off a three-state manhunt that ended with a Delaware state trooper being shot.

Nineteen-year-old Izyiah Plummer, of Atlantic City, was previously fired from his job as a security guard for the casino, reports CBS Philly. He and 24-year-old Aaron Evans, of Pleasantville, N.J., allegedly stole $180,000 in cash during a routine money exchange at the casino. Police said Plummer pointed a gun at Caesars employees during the incident.

Authorities said the suspects grabbed two plastic boxes of cash and ran outside the building, where a car being driven by 21-year-old Nathaniel Greenlee, of Bear, Del., was waiting for them. Twenty-year-old Donovon Jackson, of Wilmington, Del., was allegedly also in the vehicle.

Captain Chris Leone of the New Jersey state police said Plummer's knowledge of Caesars operations allowed for the robbery to go off without a hitch, according to the station. "[The suspects] were wearing masks. One was armed with a handgun. They conducted this robbery in about four minutes," he said.

The station reports Plummer was in custody within a day of the robbery.

A subsequent probe led police to Pennsylvania and Delaware, leading to the recovery of $150,000 - including $50,000 worth of marijuana which police say was destined for sale on the street.

On August 6, state police from New Jersey and Delaware carried out a search warrant at Nathaniel Greenlee's residence in Delaware, according to CBS Philly. When the officers breached the front door, the suspect's father, John Greenlee, shot a Delaware state trooper, authorities said.

John Greenlee was arrested by police. The trooper - who was wearing a bulletproof vest that helped save his life - was released from the hospital later that day.

The station reports Nathaniel Greenlee was arrested on the same day after detectives discovered he was employed by a large retail store in Concord Township, Pa. They found his car, which police think is the same one used as the getaway vehicle in the robbery, and arrested the suspect.

It is unclear what role the other suspects played in the heist as well as when and how they were arrested.
