Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is open to cooking up a career in politics

For the wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson, there's the whiff of a possible political career in the air.

Johnson, once popularly known by his World Wrestling Entertainment stage name "The Rock," told British GQ in a wide-ranging interview out Wednesday that he has recently considered a shift to the political life, acknowledging that it's an "alluring" thought.

"I haven't ruled politics out," Johnson told the magazine. "I'm not being coy when I say that, but at the moment I am not sure. I can't deny that the thought of being governor, the thought of being president, is alluring."

"And beyond that," he added. "It would be an opportunity to make a real impact on people's lives on a global scale."

But, he noted, "there are a lot of other things I want to do first."

This isn't the first time he's thought about a career change. In 2012, Johnson also mentioned a shift to politics, saying in an interview with Moviefone that "I can become president."

Johnson wouldn't be the first former wrestler to make his way out of the ring and into elected office.

Jesse "The Body" Ventura served as the governor of Minnesota from 1999 to 2003.
