Dwayne Johnson to play DC Comics' Black Adam in "Shazam" film
Look out Billy Batson.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has revealed that he'll be playing the antagonist Black Adam in "Shazam," the latest super-hero flick based on characters from the DC Comics universe.
Johnson made the casting revelation on his Twitter page Wednesday.
"Kneel at his feet or get crushed by his boot," Johnson wrote.
The former wrestler-turned-actor added that it was an "honor" to play the character, who is seen in the comics as more of an anti-hero than a super-villain.
Black Adam is often depicted as extremely arrogant, with a strong desire to dominate -- largely due to the fact that he's been alive for thousands of years and possesses superhuman powers.
The character first made his debut in the comics in 1945.
He has been seen as a foe over the years for the super-hero Batson, who was formerly known as Captain Marvel and is now referred to as Shazam.
So far, Johnson is the only actor to be officially cast in "Shazam," which has yet to secure an official release date.
The "Hercules" star will next appear in the upcoming "Fast & Furious 7," due out April 3, 2015.
