Duggars expand family, gain custody of great nephew

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar are opening their home to one more.

The “19 Kids and Counting” stars have been granted permanent custody of their 8-year-old great-nephew, Tyler Wayne Hutchins, ET has learned.

According to court documents obtained by ET, the Duggars were granted temporary guardianship after filing an emergency petition on Aug. 26, and the guardianship was made permanent on Nov. 21.

In the documents, Duggar attorney Travis Story argues Tyler’s 23-year-old mother, Rachel Hutchins, “recently exhibited a pattern of behavior demonstrating that she is presently unable to meet Tyler’s health, safety, and other needs,” alleging the relative is unemployed, has no means of transportation and is currently on probation.

According to the documents, Rachel has signed off on the guardianship, in addition to agreeing to supervised visits with her son.

Meanwhile, embattled family member, Josh Duggar, reunited with wife Anna and the Duggar family over Thanksgiving. Watch the video below.
