Driver's body found on sign 20 feet above scene of freeway accident

LOS ANGELES -- A driver whose car rolled over several times on a Los Angeles freeway was thrown so far that his body landed on a road sign at least 20 feet above the ground.

California Highway Patrol Officer Chad Guin says the crash occurred on Interstate 5 north of downtown at about 7 a.m.

Upon their arrival, authorities learned a victim was ejected from the vehicle during the collision and saw his body hanging on the freeway sign, CBS Los Angeles reports.

CHP officers got a ladder and climbed to the body and covered it. Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Coroner's officials have not yet released their identity.

The victim was described as a 20-year-old male.

The wreckage of the car came to rest under the sign. No one else was in the car and no other cars were involved in the crash.
