Improving the world. Changing the way we live or work. Some people are driven to pursue these challenging goals. And a few give up more secure and comfortable careers to achieve them.

CBS News Digital has been on a mission of its own, to find some of these people, discover what drives them, and share what they have achieved.

We started by meeting with women who have combined their entrepreneurial spirit with a vision to make something work in a distinctly new way. These women have innovated in their fields, and empowered others.

We want to share their stories with you. And we hope you find them as compelling as we did.
