What will happen to "The Celebrity Apprentice"?

With a feisty speech, Donald Trump officially launched his presidential campaign on Tuesday in New York City, which raises a big question: What will happen to "The Celebrity Apprentice"?

"We will re-evaluate Trump's role as host of 'Celebrity Apprentice' should it become necessary, as we are committed to this franchise," NBC said in a statement.

The network says there is no official start date for the next season, and as long as Trump stays a presidential candidate, he will not host or produce the season.

In February, NBC renewed "The Celebrity Apprentice" for an eighth season on the network. The seventh season, which featured the triumph of talk show host Leeza Gibbons, averaged 7.6 million viewers, the best since 2012. Trump has hosted various versions of "The Apprentice" since 2004.

Following his supercharged announcement, Trump told ABC's George Stephanopoulos that Oprah Winfrey would make a "great" running mate as vice president."I'd love to have Oprah," Trump said. "I think we'd win easily, actually."
