"Dog" the Bounty Hunter's stepdaughter accused in bank heist
HONOLULU -- The stepdaughter of television personality Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Chapman is in custody after allegedly robbing a Honolulu bank, reports CBS affiliate KGMB.
Nicole Gillespie, 35, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of second-degree robbery, reports the station. Police say she entered Territorial Savings Bank in downtown Honolulu Sept. 3, handed a note to the teller demanding cash, and fled on foot.
She was reportedly charged Tuesday.
KGMB reports that Gillespie is homeless and is the stepdaughter of Chapman, a bounty hunter who is filmed tracking down fugitives on his reality television series.
On Monday, Chapman and his wife Beth released the following statement:
"It's always difficult and disheartening when someone you knew as a child grows up and chooses a life of crime. That is the case with Nicole Gillespie, who has been accused of robbing the Territorial Savings Bank on Bishop Street on Sept. 3. We have not seen "Nickie" in over 10 years. Watching her on Crimestoppers left us all shocked and heart broken."
