Denver sees record heat before possible snow in October

DENVER -- Residents in parts of Colorado are in for a shock in terms of weather conditions.

The National Weather Service reports the temperature at Denver International Airport hit a record 82 degrees Wednesday afternoon, topping the previous record of 80 set back in 2007.

However, CBS Denver reports a strong cold front is expected to move through the area on Thursday morning, which could bring a chance for some light snow or rain, along with a huge drop in temperature.

By early Friday morning, meteorologists say the temperature will be roughly 60 degrees colder than Wednesday's high. A low of just 19 degrees is in the forecast.
