Deceased veteran's motorcycle stolen before special ride
DENVER - A Colorado woman is making a public plea for information in helping her track down a motorcycle belonging to her deceased husband - a veteran - which was stolen over the weekend on the same day she and others planned a motorcycle ride in his memory, reports CBS Denver.
Veteran Dale Hatcher died a year ago. On Saturday morning, family and friends planned a ride in his memory from the Denver area to Kenosha Pass. They planned to spread his ashes along the way, but then came a disturbing development, according to the station.
The group was at a restaurant in Denver when someone stole Hatcher's motorcycle, which his wife had been planning to ride.
Surveillance video from the restaurant parking lot shows a man in a red hooded sweatshirt and white sneakers getting on the motorcycle and riding off. It's believed a blue SUV was also involved, reports the station.
"It was locked, and I don't know what they did, obviously they were professionals, they just got on it and took it away," Hatcher's wife, Melisa, told CBS Denver.
The stolen motorcycle is a red custom 2004 Harley Davidson Softtail with the license 658QYT. It has custom wheels a a purple horn on the front.
Melisa Hatcher says she is offering a $5,000 reward for the return of the bike in one piece. She's asking the thieves to leave it at the restaurant parking lot, right where they found it.
