Police investigating death at Prince's studio in Minnesota

Update: Prince has died, according to his publicist.

MINNEAPOLIS -- A Minnesota sheriff's office is investigating a death at the recording studio for the artist Prince, CBS station WCCO-TV reports.

According to Carver County Sheriff Chief Deputy Jason Kamerud, deputies responded to Paisley Park at 9:43 a.m. on the report of a medical situation.

Later, authorities confirmed that there was a dead body inside. A crime lab technician and medical examiner also responded to the scene.

Last Friday, Prince was briefly hospitalized. Prince's representatives say he had been recovering from the flu, which caused him to cancel two shows earlier in April.

There was an event at Paisley Park on Saturday. According to reports, Prince appeared and showed off a new guitar, but did not perform.

Paisley Park is located in Chanhassen, Minnesota.
