Daniel Webb, former Chicago White Sox pitcher, dead in ATV accident
HUMPHREYS COUNTY, Tenn. -- Daniel Webb, a former Chicago White Sox pitcher, died in Tennessee on Saturday after an accident on his ATV. He was 28.
Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis confirmed his death Sunday afternoon, CBS affiliate WTVF in Nashville, Tennessee, reports.
His former club posted a statement on social media Sunday evening saying that they're shocked by the news.
"Daniel left many friends within the Chicago White Sox organization, and we are all shocked and stunned by the news of last night's terrible accident," the statement read. "He was a terrific young man with a full life ahead of him. All thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends as they deal with today's tragic news."
Webb was born in Paducah, Kentucky. He played four seasons as a relief pitcher for the White Sox. He was released by the team last year after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
