Dallas police investigate possible hate crime beating

DALLAS -- Police in Dallas are investigating the beating of a man with a baseball bat as a possible anti-gay hate crime, reports CBS DFW.

Witnesses said the 29-year-old victim was attacked by a group of four men attacked who yelled-anti gay slurs. The Dallas Morning News reports that the attack came hours after thousands attended a pride parade nearby.

Francisco Garcia told CBS DFW he found the victim lying in a pool of blood.

"I saw his face there was blood everywhere... this was very bad," Garcia said. "I told him don't worry about it we called the police already don't worry about it don't talk don't say nothing everything is OK."

Garcia's home security camera recorded a light-colored pickup truck driving by his house and making a U-turn seconds before he heard screams for help.

Garcia said Dallas police have yet to retrieve the video.

The victim suffered a possible skull fracture but was talking to police early Tuesday morning. He told police he believes he was targeted because he is gay.
