CPS removes kids from Wash. home after girl, 6, goes missing

BREMERTON, Wash. - Child welfare workers have removed two children from a Seattle area home where a 6-year-old disappeared over the weekend.

Kitsap County sheriff's Deputy Scott Wilson said Washington Child Protective Services took an 8-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl from the east Bremerton home Monday, as the search continues for the younger girl, Jenise Paulette Wright.

"As detectives got into the investigation, they realized there was probable cause to remove two children from the house," Wilson told CBS affiliate KIRO.

The station reports Jenise and her family live in a mobile home park. Wilson says the 8- and 12-year-olds were the only other children at the residence. Bremerton is on the west side of Puget Sound, across from Seattle.

Wilson said two parents also live in the home in a blended family.

Jenise was last seen Saturday night, but she wasn't reported missing until Sunday night.

The family said Jenise is very outgoing and has left the home on previous occasions to wander around the neighborhood with siblings or friends, according to KIRO. The family said she usually checks in every few hours and, when they woke up Sunday morning and didn't find the 6-year-old in the house, they assumed she was somewhere nearby.

The station reports the family became concerned when they had not heard from Jenise by 8:30 p.m. Sunday and started going door-to-door. When they couldn't find her, they called 911 just before 10 p.m.

Wilson said 37 searchers, three dog teams and seven counties are involved in looking for the little girl.

Jenise, who is Caucasian and Filipino, has brown eyes and black hair. She is 3-feet-tall and weighs 45 pounds. Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff's Office via Kitsap County Central Communications at 360-308-5400.
