Cops: Surveillance video shows "horrific" San Jose murder

SAN JOSE, Calif. --San Jose police have released surveillance video of a man being chased at gunpoint before they say he was shot to death in a murder they called "horrific," reports CBS San Francisco.

Police say the victim, 38-year-old Christopher Maxwell Wrenn, was killed inside a San Jose office park last week, reports the station. Two of the suspects have since been shot by police in separate incidents, while a third is still being sought.

The video shows Maxwell apparently raising his arms as he is chased by two armed suspects. Before the murder, the two suspects are seen walking around the office building.

"The suspects were running after and intimidating and terrorizing the victim," Sgt. Enrique Garcia of of the San Jose Police Department said at a press conference.

Wrenn, the victim, had been arrested and convicted multiple times on methamphetamine charges, reports the station.

Police say there are three suspects in the crime -- two of which have reportedly since been shot dead by officers in separate incidents.

Suspect Matthew Castillo was reportedly shot and killed by police on Sunday. Witnesses told the station he had a gun in his hand when he was shot.

The second suspect, Richard Jacquez, was reportedly unarmed when he was fatally shot by police on Monday. Garcia said he was spotted in a car Monday night with a woman he allegedly intended to kill. He attempted to get away from police when he realized he was being followed, Garcia said. He was shot and killed by police after he crashed his car and led officers on a foot pursuit.

No weapon was found on the suspect, Garcia reported. On Monday night, Garcia said officers reported the suspect reached for his waistband before they opened fire, but on Tuesday he said the officers had backtracked on that assertion, reports the station.

Miranda Montiel, Jacquez's niece, told the station she didn't think her uncle killed anyone and blasted the police shooting, saying, "he's not a dog."

"He meant something to us and we just think the way he died was brutal," said Miranda Montiel, the suspect's niece. "It shouldn't have went down like that. He was unarmed."

A third suspect, who appears in the video wearing a mask, is still being sought. It's not clear whether he's been identified.
