Cops search for clues in Halloween party disappearance
FRENCHTOWN TWP., Mich. -- Police say they have nothing to indicate that a 22-year-old woman who went missing at a Halloween party in southern Michigan nearly two weeks ago isn't still alive.
Chelsea Ellen Bruck, of Maybee, Mich., has been missing since the party in the early morning hours of Oct. 26 in Frenchtown Township, about 30 miles south of Detroit. Bruck was seen speaking with several people at the party, which drew hundreds, and didn't appear to be afraid or under duress, Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone said Wednesday.
However, he did say the woman had been drinking and walked into a post around 12:45 a.m., cutting her forehead and the bridge of her nose, reports the Detroit Free Press.
She was last seen around 3:15 a.m. that morning talking to an unknown male - of whom police have put out a composite sketch - and the two were seen walking in the direction of the parking lot, though not entering the lot. Police say he's not a suspect, but investigators are seeking to question him.
The witness who saw the two speaking said "he didn't see anything out of the ordinary, she appeared to be seen having a casual conversation," Malone said.
Malone says they've received about 185 tips and interviewed about 138 people but most were "intoxicated or stoned at the scene." About 600 costumed people attended the party, with live, loud music.
He said he's executed a search warrant at the home of the homeowner who hosted the party, but the search turned up nothing. The man is not considered to be a person of interest.
Police are asking anyone with photo or video of the party to come forward. Investigators have already taken to their Facebook page in an attempt to locate people pictured in photos from the party, all of whom have been identified.
Malone said Wednesday that officials have no evidence Bruck was hurt or killed. Investigators are searching Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.
"There's no evidence to suggest Chelsea was under any duress at any time during the evening or experiencing any trouble with anyone who was there," Malone said.
Bruck is described as a blonde-haired white female, around 5-feet-7 inches tall. She is reportedly 140 pounds and has a small tattoo of an anchor behind her right ear. She was last seen dressed in a "Poison Ivy" Batman costume with black yoga pants, green ivy leaf-covered shirt and a long dark purple wig.
