Cops: New details on possible suspect in Dallas teen's murder
DALLAS -- Police announced Tuesday that they have new clues in the murder of Zoe Hastings, the Dallas 18-year-old who went missing earlier this month and was found dead in a vehicle that crashed, reports CBS DFW.
Police said they were able to locate another spot where her minivan crashed the night of her disappearance, and even gave a description of a possible suspect, according to the station.
Investigators have evidence that the teen's white Honda Odyssey struck a speed limit sign near an intersection in East Dallas. A witness reportedly saw a crash occur between 4:40 and 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 11 -- the same day she disappeared on her way to church.
Hastings was also spotted on surveillance camera at a local Walgreens, returning a DVD to a Redbox vendor outside. According to CBS DFW, the store is a mile away from where the speed limit sign was run down.
Police say that a witness recalled a woman matching the teen's description talking to a man. That witness reportedly said that the man got into the driver's side of the white minivan as the teen moved to the passenger's side.
The body of Hastings -- and the minivan -- were found in a creek bed less than a mile from her Lake Highlands home on Monday, October 12.
The man was described as a black male with a bushy Afro, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 170 pounds, according to the station.
Police are now asking everyone who lives in the area to check any security camera footage for video of the incident. Anyone with information is urged to call the Dallas Police Department at 214-671-3647.
Oak Farms Dairy is also reportedly offering a $10,000 reward for details that lead to an arrest and conviction.
