Cops: Man takes exception to "the finger," bites it off

SEFFNER, Fla. - A Tampa Bay-area man has been accused of biting off the tip of a woman's middle finger after she waved it in his face during an argument.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that 32-year-old Christopher Butler of Seffner was arrested Monday night at his home after Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies responded to a battery call and found a woman lying on a lawn chair, a half-inch of her finger missing. Authorities say she underwent surgery to repair the wound.

Deputies say Butler had a cut on his nose and was taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation before he was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail.

Butler faces a felony charge of aggravated battery with great bodily harm. It is unclear if he has an attorney.
