Cops: 2 found dead at Dallas apartment; shooter fled on foot

DALLAS - Police in Dallas are searching for a shooter who killed two people at an apartment complex in Dallas Wednesday morning, reports CBS affiliate KHOU.

Authorities say the shooter fled on foot. The two identities of the victims have not been released, but police reportedly say they are both young men in their 20s.

Deputy Chief Rob Sherwin said Wednesday that a resident at the Brandon Mill Luxury Apartments heard gunshots early Wednesday and called dispatchers. However, he said the caller gave the wrong apartment number, and the caller had fallen back asleep when officers tried to call her back, he said.

Officials say the woman called back when she woke up around 7 a.m. and realized police hadn't responded. That's when police discovered the bodies, reports the station.

Dallas police also reported another shooting that happened earlier in the morning, around 3:44 a.m. along Marvin D. Love Freeway. Responders found one wounded victim, according to the station.

The shooting was reported less than two miles from the apartment complex where the two men were found dead, but police say they've found no evidence to link the incidents, reports the station.
