Cops: 11 more charged in hazing death of NYC college student

Frat brothers face murder charges in 2013 Baruch hazing death

POCONO PINES, Pa. -- Eleven more suspects have been charged in Pennsylvania in the hazing death of a New York City fraternity pledge.

Police say fraternity members at Baruch College physically abused Chun "Michael" Deng during a December 2013 hazing ritual in the Pocono Mountains and then tried to cover it up.

The Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department said Thursday that 11 men were charged with two counts each of hindering apprehension, hazing and criminal conspiracy, in addition to the 26 people previously charged in the case.

Five of the men are expected to be charged with murder.

Police allege fraternity members blindfolded Deng, forced him to wear a heavy backpack and then repeatedly tackled him during a hazing ritual known as glass ceiling.
