Connecticut man accused of killing landlord amid eviction dispute
WATERBURY, Conn. -- Police say a fight between a tenant and landlord in Waterbury, Conn., turned deadly.
CBS affiliate WFSB reports that 71-year-old George Marshall suffered at least one stab wound to the chest on Friday. His tenant, 51-year-old Theodore McMahon was charged with murder.
Officers went to the home where both men lived at about 8:20 a.m. after a report of a "disturbance involving two men covered in blood," according to a police account. Detectives later learned that Marshall was in the process of evicting McMahon.
The victim's nephew, David Jurewicz, told WFSB that McMahon had been living as a tenant in Marshall's home for about a year.
"The gentleman .... wasn't paying rent and he told him he wasn't going to pay rent either, so (Marshall) went through the eviction process and I guess today was the final day to get him out," Jurewicz said.
