Chris Pratt to host "Saturday Night Live" season 40 premiere
Chris Pratt will be live from New York when "Saturday Night Live" kicks off its 40th season next month.
NBC announced Wednesday that the "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Parks and Recreation" star will host the show's season premiere on Sept. 27.
Pop star Ariana Grande will serve as that night's musical guest.
"Guardians of the Galaxy," with Pratt starring as Star-Lord, was the biggest movie of the summer. He'll be back on "Parks and Rec" for the show's seventh and final season, and will be seen on the big screen again in the upcoming "Jurassic World."
Pratt's stint as host will be followed on Oct. 4 with Sarah Silverman making her "SNL" hosting debut. Maroon 5 will be that night's musical guest, making their fifth appearance on the show.
"Saturday Night Live" will also be celebrating its 40th anniversary later this season with a three-hour live special. The event, set for Feb. 15, 2015, will feature past and present cast members and guests from the show's legendary run.
