Parents to miss son's wedding for brother's Euro 2016 game
What do you do when your son is getting married the day after your other son is playing in the Euro 2016 soccer tournament?
That's the dilemma Sarah and Gerald Gunter faced Wednesday, as son Chris took the field for Wales in a Euro 2016 semifinal in Lyon, France.
The problem: Chris' brother Marc is marrying his fiancee, Danielle Murray, on Thursday in Mexico.
"Mum is a bit upset at having to choose," Chris told the Daily Mirror. "It has caused chaos. You couldn't begin to imagine the trouble it's caused. I'm not sure what Marc will do if we make the final. He might be divorced by then."
Marc and Danielle set their wedding date earlier this year -- never expecting Wales would make it to the tournament semifinal.
"Speak to my parents and they're fuming," Chris said. "It's Marc's own fault. He's been to every game and hasn't been at work for a month."
The men's parents made the tough decision to be at the game to cheer Chris and his teammates.
Chris still plans to give his best man speech, thanks to Skype.
Unfortunately, both brothers won't end up with happy endings: Wales lost the semifinal to Portugal 2-0.
The loss ends Wales' magnificent run to the semifinals, as the team wasn't expected to make it past the round of 16 at the most, CBS Sports' Roger Gonzalez reported.
