Chris Brown's Washington assault case settled

The lawyer for a man who was punched by Chris Brown outside a Washington hotel says he has settled a lawsuit against the singer.

The Washington Post reports that John C. Hayes, the attorney for Parker Adams, confirmed on Thursday that a settlement had been reached. He did not say how much the settlement was worth. He did not immediately respond to requests for information from The Associated Press.

The settlement was first reported by TMZ.

Brown pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault on Sept. 2. The singer admitted hitting Adams, who tried to get in a picture that the singer was taking with two women outside the W hotel in October 2013. Adams suffered a broken nose.

Brown was sentenced to time served.

Brown had a squeaky clean image before his attack on Rihanna before the 2009 Grammy Awards, but since then he has had several flare-ups that have been reported to authorities and noted by Los Angeles prosecutors.

Brown broke a window after a 2011 "Good Morning America" interview in New York and was accused of snatching a woman's cellphone in Miami after she tried to snap pictures of the singer. He was also slightly injured in a New York nightclub brawl and, earlier this year, was accused of being involved in a fistfight with Frank Ocean's entourage over a parking spot at a West Hollywood recording studio.

The R&B singer, meanwhile, is on the up and up in terms of his career. He recently released his latest album, "X," and also leads this year's Soul Train Awards nominees.
