Chicago cop fatally shoots dog after it attacks elderly woman, officer
CHICAGO - A Chicago police officer shot and killed a dog after it attacked an elderly woman and another officer, CBS Chicago reported.
The elderly woman, 72, was in the backyard of her building in the Little Village section of the city Tuesday night when a neighbor's dog bit her multiple times, police said. When police arrived at the building the dog attacked again, this time biting one of the officers. The other officer on the call fatally shot the dog.
According to the station, the woman suffered multiple bites and was taken to Saint Anthony Hospital, where her condition stabilized. The officer was taken to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn with injuries that weren't thought to be life-threatening.
Police say the dog's owner was not home when the attack occurred. He was fined for not having a license for the animal.
