Center-right group launches robocalls in support of tax framework

President Trump rolls out his plan for tax overhaul

The center-right outside group American Action Network (AAN) will be launching a million robocalls to constituents of 45 GOP House members -- urging them to follow through on the tax framework introduced by President Trump and Republicans Wednesday.

The call briefly informs constituents that Congress' "new plan will lower tax rates, nearly double the standard deduction for America's hardworking families, and enhance the Child Tax Credit. These are exactly the changes that are needed to bring back job from overseas and keep the economy growing."

And then it goes on to urge them to call their members of Congress to tell them to fight for "tax reform that simplifies the tax code and cuts middle class taxes."

AAN is targeting members who are in leadership and on relevant committees, as well as vulnerable members whose support on the issue is necessary. Many of the representatives are in New York, California and Illinois.

The long-awaited tax plan slashes the number of tax rates from seven to three, and lowers taxes for corporations and small businesses. But many of the details are still up in the air -- the administration did not attach income levels to its proposed tax rates, leaving all the fine-tuning to the tax-writing committees in Congress.
