CBS News to present "48 Hours: Bringing A Nation Together"
Maurice DuBois will anchor a primetime special from the CBS Broadcast Center in New York Saturday, July 9 at at 10 p.m. ET/PT, featuring extensive original reporting from CBS News correspondents on the ground in Dallas and around the country.
The special, produced by the team at the award-winning "48 Hours," is part of CBS News' ongoing coverage of the events in Dallas, where five officers were shot and killed and seven others wounded by sniper fire during a protest Thursday night against recent deadly police shootings.
Scott Pelley anchored an extended one-hour live edition of the "CBS Evening News" on Friday from Dallas. Pelley also led "CBS This Morning's expanded three-hours of coverage from Dallas Friday morning.
CBS News' coverage of the tragedy began Thursday night on CBSN, the 24/7 digital streaming news service, with Elaine Quijano reporting just after 10:01 p.m. that there was violence at a protest in Dallas. Those reports soon escalated with Manuel Bojorguez and Omar Villafranca reporting live from Dallas overnight. On Friday, CBSN's around-the-clock coverage continued with Anne Marie Green, Jeff Glor, Jamie Yuccas and Reena Ninan anchoring from New York with reports from CBS News correspondents around the country.
Additional coverage from Dallas will be broadcast on "CBS This Morning: Saturday," CBS Weekend News, "CBS Sunday Morning," and "Face the Nation."
