Cause of death undetermined for boy found dead in mother's trunk

HAMPTON, Va. -- An autopsy has not been able to help officials determine the cause of death for a boy whose body was found in the trunk of his mother's car last year.

According to The Virginian-Pilot, the Medical Examiner's Office says Quincy J. Davis' manner of death also was still undetermined after the autopsy.

Davis' decomposing body was found in 44-year-old Tonya M. Slaton's trunk after a state trooper pulled her over on Interstate 64 in Hampton in June.

Davis' whereabouts cannot be accounted for in the 11 years since he was a middle school student in Virginia Beach. A missing person report was never filed. Davis would be 25 now.

Slaton is charged with one felony count of concealing a dead body. She's scheduled for a preliminary hearing Wednesday in General District Court.
