Husband arrested after missing woman and her 4 kids found dead
Authorities in central Florida believe they've found the remains of four young children just hours after their mother, Casei Jones, was found dead in Georgia. Deputies in Ocala, Florida, discovered the children's bodies after interviewing their father, Michael Jones.
Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods wouldn't say where the children's remains were found. A warrant was issued for Michael Jones' arrest early Monday after the body of his wife, Casei Jones, was found near Brunswick, Georgia.
Relatives of Casei Jones reported her and her four children missing Saturday after they hadn't been seen or heard from in six weeks. She lived with her children — Cameron Bowers, 10; Preston Bowers, 5; Mercalli Jones, 2; and Aiyana Jones, 1 — in Summerfield.
The Brantley County Sheriff's Office in Georgia said Michael Jones was arrested after he was involved in a car crash near Hickox, CBS Orlando affiliate WKMG-TV reported. According to a news release, deputies smelled a foul odor on Michael Jones, who led them to several bodies believed to be the four children.
"Unfortunately, true evil poked its head up here in Marion County. That's about the only best way to describe it," Woods said in a news conference Monday. "He has no right to walk on the face of this Earth, and I'd hate to be him when he stands before the Lord."
Detectives believe Michael Jones murdered the family and stored the bodies in his home and van for several weeks. A second-degree murder warrant was issued for his arrest, WKMG-TV reported.
