Cameron Diaz cuts interview short over Drew Barrymore questions
Cameron Diaz doesn't take too kindly to people badmouthing her pals.
During an interview with KIIS 106.5's Kyle & Jackie O show, co-host Kyle Sandilands made a comment about the "Sex Tape" star's best friend Drew Barrymore that didn't sit too well with the actress. Jackie O pointed out that Diaz's on-screen daughter Giselle Eisenberg resembles Barrymore in 1982's E.T.
"She does, now that you mention it. And she's as bright and lively as Drew is, as well. She's a sweet little girl," Diaz responded.
That's when Sandilands chimed in by saying, "Let's hope she misses out on the Drew Barrymore drug years, because those were a great thing to watch, but not so good to be in, I'd imagine."
Diaz bit back, "I'm sure, Kyle, you've never been through a drug phase, have you? Or alcoholism or anything like that? Pretty clean; always did it right? Congratulations."
But the Australian disc jockey didn't stop there. Sandilands went on to press the 41-year-old actress, who's known for keeping her private life private, about her romantic relationship with rocker Benji Madden.
Jackie O attempted to turn the conversation to her co-star Jason Segel's weight loss but it was too late. "We're having to go now," she said. "Sorry, they're wrapping us up."
Jackie O quipped after the actress hung up, "Well, that started very well and ended poorly, I think. Good one, Kyle. You ruined that interview. Sorry to be blunt. You brought up Drew Barrymore, her best friend's drug addiction in the past ...She's her best friend. And then you brought up Benji. We all know how protective Cameron is about her private life."
Seeming unfazed, Sandilands said, "Maybe they should've just bought ads if they wanted to sell the movie."
