Cameras outside Texas church not working on day of murder

Texas woman's family worried about her safety before murder

MIDLOTHIAN, Texas -Police have confirmed that cameras outside ofa Texas church where a fitness instructor was murdered Monday were not functioning at the time of her death, reports CBS DFW.

Terri "Missy" Bevers' body was found early Monday morning inside Creekside Church, in Midlothian, Texas, where she was getting ready to lead a 5 a.m. boot camp class. A person seen on surveillance camera wearing what appears to be police body armor broke into the church before she arrived, according to police.

In surveillance video from inside the church, the suspect is seen wandering the halls. It's unclear if the suspect is a man or a woman, because of the heavy tactical gear worn by the individual. And the non-functioning cameras on the outside of the church were unable to capture the suspect's arrival, which may have revealed more clues into his or her identity.

Authorities told CBS DFW that they are reviewing security footage from nearby businesses in the hopes of getting new information.

On Wednesday, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were on the premises with a local bomb-sniffing dog named "Titan" who searched the building and grounds of the church. Officials said the dog was searching for gun casings and gun residue, among other possible clues. They did not say if the dog found anything related to the case.

Oak Farms Dairy is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest or indictment in the murder, which was the first in Midlothian in seven years.
