Calif. man saves 4-year-old boy from kidnapping

WESTCHESTER, Calif. - Jesus Delgado is being celebrated as a hero after he foiled the attempted kidnapping of a 4-year-old boy in Westchester Wednesday afternoon, reports CBS Los Angeles.

According to the station, the young boy was walking with a nanny along Manchester Drive when a man grabbed the child and tried to run off with him. Delgado, an employee of T2 Tacos which is located nearby where the incident took place, was alerted to the crime when the nanny started screaming. He ran the suspect down, stopped him and was able to hold him until authorities arrived.

The suspect was arrested and has been charged with kidnapping.

On Thursday evening, the boy's parents along with several other mothers from the community thanked Delgado at the restaurant.

"How can you explain the feeling that you have of gratitude for someone who saved your son's life?" said Tom O'Brien, the boy's father. "It's really an amazing thing that he did."

A group called Moms With Westchester & Playa del Rey started a GoFundMe account to raise money for Delgado, who has a special needs child.

"We just wanted to say thank you for being alert and being aware," said Jessica Echeverry, a mother.

"It's incredible," Delgado told CBS Los Angeles about the response. He said running after the suspect was just instinct, and that he doesn't think he did anything heroic. "Never have I [felt] this."
