1 dead, 1 wounded in shooting at famed Buffalo wing bar

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Buffalo bar credited with inventing the spicy chicken wings now known as Buffalo-style wings has reopened after one kitchen employee was killed and another was wounded in a shooting on Friday.

Police say a man walked into the kitchen of the Anchor Bar and fatally shot 32-year-old Freddie Dizon. A ricocheting bullet also grazed a co-worker who was treated and released.

The gunman remained at large Monday.

The shooting occurred around 7 p.m. in the kitchen at the landmark tavern, where the first Buffalo-style wings were served in 1964.

Police say the gunman targeted Dizon, but have provided no additional information.

Dizon's older brother, Danny Gomez of Salt Lake City, Utah, said his sibling had three children and worked at the restaurant for about eight years.
