Boy, 6, fatally shot while in family's car in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - A 6-year-old child was shot and killed in north St. Louis Wednesday night, reports CBS affiliate KMOV.

According to police, the child's family was leaving O'Fallon Park in a van when a car pulled up alongside and someone in that car fired shots at the van. Two children, ages 6 and 15, and an adult who were riding in the van were hit, according to the station.

Police said someone in the victims' van then fired back, reports the station. After the shooting, the family then drove to another location and called police.

The 6-year-old victim, identified Thursday as Marcus Johnson, was taken to a hospital by an officer but later died. The other two victims were taken to a hospital in stable condition, reports the station.

An investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been reported.
