Boy, 2, found dead in NYC restaurant; woman in custody
NEW YORK - A 2-year-old boy was found dead in a restaurant bathroom in the midtown Manhattan Monday afternoon, and a woman who had been with him was taken into custody, reports CBS New York.
Police say the 35-year-old woman locked herself in the bathroom with the boy around 2:25 p.m. at 5 Boro Burger, at 36th St. and Sixth Avenue, according to the station.
A police source tells the station the woman refused to open the door but workers at the restaurant eventually gained entry and found the boy unconscious and foaming at the mouth.
The child was rushed to Bellevue Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, sources told the station. The woman was taken into custody and transported to the Midtown South Precinct, sources said, according to the station.
The relationship between the woman and the boy was not immediately clear.
