Body ID'd as missing Mississippi mom Jessica Hewitt

JACKSON, Miss. - Authorities say a body found along the Pearl River in Mississippi Wednesday is that of a missing 29-year-old Mississippi woman.

Jackson Police Chief Lee Vance says they are awaiting the results of an autopsy. A purse and personal items were found with the body.

A missing person's report was filed with the Jackson Police Department on Monday night after Hewitt failed to pick up her child from day care. Her vehicle was found abandoned Tuesday afternoon near Old River Place in Flowood. It was towed on Tuesday to be processed for evidence.

Jessica Hewitt's husband, Hobbie Hewitt, has been questioned and released. Jackson Police Chief Lee Vance told the Clarion Ledger that Hobbie Hewitt was on the scene where the woman's car was discovered before police responded, but they're not calling him a suspect.

A friend of Jessica Hewitt told the paper that the 29-year-old Hewitt had left her husband of two months on Friday.
