Body found in search for missing Detroit woman, two kids
DETROIT - A family member says he has located a missing Detroit woman after discovering a decomposed body on the city's west side, reports CBS Detroit. The woman's two small children have still not been found.
Michael Fields told the station he found the body Monday night in the basement of a vacant home while searching for his niece, 26-year-old Alicia Fox. Fox was last seen May 24 at her home in Detroit. Her 6-month-old son Kristian Justice and 6-year-old daughter Kaylah Hunter have also not been seen since that time.
Fields said he was acting on an anonymous tip that Fox might have been in the area when he searched the vacant home. Authorities have not confirmed the identity of the decomposed body that was found, CBS Detroit reports.
The discovery came just hours after Detroit police issued a missing persons alert for Fox and her children.
Police are also seeking 28-year-old Aaron Justice, the father of the 6-month-old boy. According to the station, investigators think he may be traveling with the two children in a burgundy Chevy Malibu with Michigan plate "CCR 1286." Kaylah Hunter is described as having black hair in corn rows.
Those with information about the missing children are asked to call Detroit police at 313-596-1240 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
